What Are Bitcoin  Wallets?

Bitcoin wallets are digital wallets that are used to send and receive Bitcoins.

They contain cryptographic information used to access Bitcoin addresses and send transactions.

Also, they are used to store and manage other cryptocurrencies.

Put simply, a bitcoin wallet creates the interaction between a user and his cryptos.

Wallets can either be in cold storage (offline) or hot storage (online) form.

Hot wallets are the least secure because internet connection exposes them to remote attacks.

Examples are web, desktop, and mobile wallets.

On the other hand, cold wallets provide more security.

However, they are vulnerable to physical attacks.

Examples are paper wallets, hardware wallets, and brain wallets.

Moving on, I will now describe the bitcoin wallets best suited for use in Nigeria.

Tag along!

Luno isn’t accepting the temporary National ID card since the national identity management decided to be unfortunate by refusing to make the main plastic card available after 6years of application.
Now I can’t open a wallet account because of the failed country I found myself in.Is a shame that the card can’t be ready after 6years but they earned salary every month for doing nothing.
Please help me if there’s any wallet I can open with the temporary National ID card that I have.

You should use Quidax then. You can verify your account on Quidax with National ID slip

It is to ID you to guard against fraud from you or against you.
Luno or anyone does not have access to your account through your BVN.
Lastly, Luno is regulated by the CBN.

Luno is trulu a pro scam business. Early this year I had 87000 Naira in btc value in my Luno wallet and I transfered 25k to my Local bitcoin address, immediately the remaining ballance of 62000 vanished it appeared as transaction charge. I wrote to customer support this and they instead blocked my account. I wrote over a dozen times but no human reply, except auto responder that says nothing similar to my complaint. Chat them on Facebook they said will get back at me till now. My friend also experienced same two times.
ADVICE….. If you are using luno for btc transfers, dont leave any single satoshi in your wallet since it will still go through without charge or you will end up like thousands of many voiceless Nigerians.

    • Jude Umeano

Luno has a poor customer support, they take a lot of time to respond and give a generic answer.
However, I have used Luno for 2 years now and have not experienced any loss of my fund.

Luno is a major scam, imagine me sending btc worth #1000 and they collected Transfer charges worth #3900. What the heck is that?

    • Jude Umeano

      Hello Gabin

You should be very observant when making transaction because your money is involved.

Bitcoin transactions are now quite expensive. It is not peculiar to luno but all bitcoin exchanges or medium. Coinbase charges about $23, blockchain.info allows you to adjust this value to a minimum of $9 but this will take about 24 hours to execute.
The problem is from the bitcoin blockchain network. And the money are send to miners not the exchange

Next time when sending bitcoin from luno, if the platform you are sending to accepts ethereum, it’s better you convert your bitcoin to ethereum and send it as ethereum.

This high transaction fee in the bitcoin blockchain will Continue until the Lightening Network (LN) is implemented if it will be implemented . With the LN, bitcoin can be sent and confirmed in seconds at no cost. You can get more info here
      http://lightning.network

I said you should observant because luno and other exchanges shows you the transaction charge before you send. Maybe you were not observant enough to see it.

      All the best Gabin.
