Bitcoin was born out of the need to have money that is not controlled by the government.

It is decentralized; in other words, it cannot be controlled by anyone be it the government, institutions, individuals, not even Nakamoto himself.

Sending and receiving Bitcoins is as easy as sending and receiving an email; it is also anonymous.

Bitcoins have also seen an increase in adoption as it can now be used to pay for school fees, hotel bills, software, cars, etc.
